World Triathlon and PTO sign through 2036: private capital meets sports governance

In October 2024 PTO and World Triathlon signed a 12-year strategic partnership running to 2036.

It covers the official long-distance world championship tour, anti-doping, safeguarding and collaboration on commercial rights, sponsorship and broadcast.

Each side brings something different. PTO brings private capital, production, marketing and commercial capacity. World Triathlon brings international federation structures, rules, official titles and sporting services.

This does not mean PTO bought World Triathlon, or that the federation owns PTO. It is a long-term partnership between separate organisations.

In simple terms: one side is trying to grow the business and audience while the other retains international governance functions.
