Spain’s 2027 long-distance season is taking shape with road, mountain and extreme formats. Alongside the three IRONMAN events, Segura Extreme has announced its date, while other organisers are still defining their next editions.
For athletes choosing an endurance goal, variety matters. Distance is only one part of the challenge: climbing, run terrain and course conditions can fundamentally change the experience.

Four dates to start planning
| 2027 date | Event |
|---|---|
| 08.05.2027 | Segura Extreme |
| 15.05.2027 | IRONMAN Lanzarote |
| 11.07.2027 | IRONMAN Vitoria-Gasteiz |
| 03.10.2027 | IRONMAN Calella-Barcelona |
Segura Extreme publishes its date on the organiser’s website. The three IRONMAN dates appear in the Triatlón Noticias calendar and are already included in our European full-distance guide.
Segura Extreme: a mountain endurance challenge
The Sierra de Segura event in Jaén will take place on 8 May. Its website describes a 3.6 km swim in El Tranco reservoir, a 180 km bike leg with 4,000 metres of climbing and a 43 km trail run finishing at Segura de la Sierra Castle.
The combination of water, mountain passes and trails creates a distinct endurance challenge. The organiser offers individual and pairs participation.
Mediterranean Epic: Full planned, date awaiting clarification
The draft 2027 regulations include Full and Half events, but retain references to the weekend of 30–31 May and to Saturday 30 May. In 2027, 30 May falls on a Sunday. Until the organiser clarifies this reference, the race is not assigned a definitive day in this selection.
Other events to follow
Pirene Xtreme lists a Full format with a 3.8 km swim, 170 km bike and 41 km trail run. The information reviewed still shows 2026 activity, without a verified 2027 date.
IRONCAT L’Ampolla offers a different format: its 2026 long-distance event features a 3.8 km swim, 150 km bike and 30 km run. The website still promotes that edition, so these distances should not be treated as confirmed for 2027.
ICAN Gandia also continues to display its 2026 event. Infinitri 226 Peñíscola appears in the reference guide with its return and date still pending. The same compilation lists the Spanish Long Distance Championships as awaiting a venue and date.
These references help athletes follow future announcements. A pending date does not establish that a race will take place.
