Challenge Sir Bani Yas returns on 29–31 January 2027, combining triathlon and travel on an island off the coast of Abu Dhabi. The event advertises long, middle and standard-distance formats, alongside community sports activities for a weekend shared with family and supporters.
The dates appear in Challenge Family’s newsletter and on the event homepage. The weekend offers an early-season racing opportunity in a setting far removed from the European winter.

An island at the heart of the experience
Sir Bani Yas combines beaches, desert landscapes and a wildlife reserve. According to the organisers, it is home to more than 17,000 free-roaming animals, including Arabian oryx, gazelles and giraffes. This setting gives the race a distinctive place on the international calendar.
The weekend extends beyond competition: the event communication highlights activities and excursions that allow athletes and their supporters to explore the island together.
Three triathlon formats
Athletes can choose long, middle or standard distance. The official website describes a swim on the island’s southeast coast, a bike course combining the perimeter road with inland sections, and a coastal run passing through the event village.
Community swimming, cycling and running events complete the programme, giving travelling companions opportunities to participate without entering a triathlon.
Entries and travel planning
The newsletter announces an initial entry phase with reduced rates for the three main formats. Current prices and included services are available through the official website.
Before booking travel, check the schedule for your chosen race, island access and accommodation arrangements. The advertised weekend runs from 29 to 31 January; the event FAQ places competitions on 30 and 31 January.
